My main areas of interest are Arabic sociolinguistics in general and Arabic as a minority language in specific and my research has focused on Arabic as a heritage language in Sweden, acquisition of Arabic, home language/mother tongue instruction, and educational policies.

At the department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish studies I have taught writing in the Arabic script, general grammar, Modern Standard Arabic grammar, and translation. As a teacher, I strive to make the students understand Arabic grammatical structures in depth by comparing them to structures that they are already familiar with from other languages.
