Description

Currently, I am a part time lecturer combining research with teaching. I have been working at the Department of Cinema Studies since 2000 and finished my doctoral thesis on Swedish children's films in 2007.

My primary research focus is cinema for and about children. My areas of interest include: What are the limits and the possibilities of children's films? How is the child audience addressed? How are children depicted? What ideas of childhood are reflected? What ideologies permeate the children's films at different historical moments? How do children respond to different kind of films?

Regularly, I teach a course on the theory and practice of film criticism at the Department of Cinema Studies, and on children's cinema at the Centre for the Studies of Children's Culture at Stockholm University.

In addition to my work as a researcher I work part time as a film critic and columnist on children's culture with the national daily Svenska Dagbladet as my main employer. I also have regular assignments as an expert on children's film for the Swedish Film Institute, the Administrative Court of Appeal of Stockholm and a number of film festivals.
