Description

The overall aim of the project is to understand the social and political dynamics relating to large-scale transformations of the environment. In short it aims to develop a critical political ecology of water and, in particular, of the appropriation of nature for the purpose of hydro-power generation. In this, the various forms of violence intrinsic to and spawn by such appropriation (displacement, environmental protests, etc) will be given special attention. Geographically the project focuses on the waterscapes of Northeast India.
