Description

In order to achieve zero waste production and to conserve energy, more efficient heterogeneous catalysts are being investigated instead of homogeneous catalysts that lead to energy waste and high costs. Another strategy is to use alternative sources of energy to take the place of oil. In Sweden, the most important renewable energy source is biomass energy. However, biomass energy production methods cause air pollution, such as carbon dioxide that is a significant global warming gas. Inorganic porous solids are good environment-friendly materials because of their non-toxic compositions, porosity, heterogeneous catalytic selectivity and surface activity. Therefore, in this project, active extra-large pore materials will be designed with new structures, and will be developed for economic and environment-friendly applications, such as heterogeneous catalysis and pollution control (i.e. CO2 adsorption and transformation).
