"Revisioning Gender: Complex inequalities and Global Dimensions" confronts new challenges for gender research in an era in which global interdependencies to a greater extent are shaping politics, policies and everyday practices. This calls for multi-level lenses from which to interpret how global processes are filtered through state and municipal institutions, the firm and work organization, and the division of paid and unpaid work in families. Dynamic models with multi-dimensional aspects are needed, exemplified by trans-national migration and its interface with care, markets, leaner welfare state budgets, and the activation of skilled women's labor force.

This conference brings together international scholars and members of the policy community (1) to create synergies in gender research addressing complex inequalities and their global dimensions, bringing together researchers from different research domains: (2) To lay the groundwork for research networks and research agendas that take up the multi-level and multi-dimensional aspects of complex inequalities and the contemporary processes underpinning them. (3) To offer policymakers at the national and supra-national level new perspectives on the forces shaping rising inequalities that have emerged since the global financial crisis and recession; (4) to produce a volume that will extend the theoretical and empirical borders in gender research within the mainframe of complex inequalities and their global dimensions.
