'Social policy and poverty in the aftermath of a global financial crisis’ is an international research conference to be held in Sigtuna, 13-15 June 2016. The financial, social and political developments that have occurred in Europe and elsewhere in the World raise new challenges for social policy. The purpose of this conference is to shed new light on these fundamental welfare state challenges from multidisciplinary perspectives. The conference is divided into paper sessions where subthemes of the conference are discussed and plenaries with invited speakers. Conference papers are subject to a selection process. Accepted papers are published online. We expect about 70 participants, the majority from other countries. The conference is organized in cooperation with the University of Antwerp and the Foundation for International Studies on Social Security. The conference is financed by fees and research funding to cover invited plenary speakers. The best conference paper will be published in the European Journal of Social Security. Based on the quality of conference papers, we may also publish a research anthology. Here, we have established collaboration with Intersentia.
