The aim is to find structures where choreographic and musical compositions are made visible/audible in relation to each other in a listening approach in which the two art forms have the musical elements as starting point and common denominator. The project is based on questions about the similarities and differences between the gestures of dance and music, and to the music and physically ?audible? dance. It is collaborative indicating close cooperative processes including professional artists and researchers. The empirical scope is broad and uses a methodological approach well suited for the purpose including analogue and digital portfolios, observations, interviews and video documentation which incorporate stimulated recall. The project carries the potential of revealing important and useful knowledge within the general field of cultural expressions where dance and music collaborate. Since a special interest is invested in collective ownership, power and gender structures, useful knowledge in these areas may also be revealed. Furthermore, the outcome will be of interest and use in professional arts education. It is not only about the direct listening to music and dance, but also about listening as a basic phenomenon in human relations. The listening is phenomenological about openness and acceptance, which is manifested both aesthetically and socially. In the project the theoretical basis can be both tested and further developed.
